Default Finally! The Blueflame saga comes to an end! (IMAGE HEAVY)

Hi all.

Had a blast over to Skelmersdale earlier today with my incorrect high level link pipe. When I got there I met up with Rod and showed him the offending article, he went into the warehouse and brought back the correct piece and immediately I could tell the difference. The 2 images below show the original pipe at the top and the correct pipe at the bottom, it's clear to see that a vital bend is missing in the original pipe.

I offered the new pipe up to the existing system and could tell straight away that it was going to be perfect! Rod had no explanation as to how the original pipe was made or even what bike it was for so that will have to stay a mystery forever. He was very apologetic though so that's a small recompense.

So I flew home and as soon as the exhaust was cool enough to take off I commenced with the surgery. The fit was millimetre perfect as you can see from the pics! So I am now one very happy bunny after going thru some painstaking waiting, I still don't think it should have been up to me to do a 150 mile round trip to get it sorted but I think if I hadn't gone over there then i'd still be waiting now. Short time pain for long term gain I guess. What do you all think then?

Not bad eh? I prefer this look to the 'bazooka' look of before!

Here's a soundbite with the baffle and lower plug removed (how it's supposed to be!)

One minor point, when I was taking the lower plug out with my circlip pliers the circlip made a bid for freedom and flew off the end of the pliers. With it being under full compression at the time I can only presume that it landed somewhere on the moon! Ah well, not to worry, wasn't planning on riding with the lower plug in anyway!

Yup it looks better than it did the last time

Just one question. The mounting bracket seems to be very close to the link pipe, leaving a long part of the exhaust unsecured. Is this normal for the K3/4 SV

If so I would have thought that the pipe would vibrate rather a lot mounted like that.

If you look at the second to last picture (the one of the can hanging bracket) you can see that there is some length left of the bracket and a hole drilled thru it at the end. So I could move the sleeve that goes around the can up about 4 inches. I'm unsure as to whether to do this or not as one of the other forum members (Chris) said that his can hanging bracket flexed so much that the base of his can broke. I think by moving the strap up the can, the weight that the mounting bracket has to hold is increased, thereby increasing the stress on it and potentially leading to failure. I dunno, i just don't know which is the better of the 2 options, to have the strap lower or higher.

Any other comments from anyone else?

Nice looking can, shame about all the hassle with it... Exactly why I won't buy blueflame. Hopefully it won't break.. Enjoy

Very nice

Alls well that ends well! One thing tho, the rear indicators in the undertray look a little obscured in the pics by your plate Maybe not as bad as it looks, just dont want anyone rear ending you now

Cant fault the can tho, love the badge on the side!

They are a little obscured, not too much I can do about them though, can't really put a smaller plate on as it's too small as it is! Maybe I could fabricate some kind of a bracket to lower the plate down an inch or so. To be honest whenever I'm turning and if there is a cage tight up my ar*e I usually give a hand signal aswell, which makes me a little more visible to them hopefully!
The pics do make it look a little worse than it is due to the angle I took them from.
