newsgroups how to wheelie - SV650.org

For those that use newsgroups for downloading you may be interested in THIS

this looks interesting.

But the post is 8 days old.

When i donlodad the headers from a new newsgroup it only downloads the last 2 days.

I haven't figured out how to change that

- i'm using newzbin

Any suggestions ?

Yup you need to change the settings, m8.

At the moment it is purging all headers older than two days, most newsgroups will have a retention of a minimum 10 days so change it to that.

click preferences, options, setup.

On this page there will be aan option to change "Max Record Age"

You will probably find it is set at 2 days, change it to 10.

already had it on 10.

found out that the newsgroups i'm normaly in only have a 2 day purge record

downloading it now!

What news server do you use

If the worst come to the worst, check out www.deja.com and do a hunt on the newsgroup name. You can usually pull up any article that has ever been submitted.

I was thinking more along the lines of binaries than chat

file corrupt CRC failure

will try to redownload it from the other newsgroup...
