Default Performance Air filter help and reccomendations sv650s 1999

Im about do do a 10.000 mile service on my sv650s 99 and need to replace my standard suzuki panel air filter , Im intrested in fitting a performance air filter such as a k&n, can any one give me some recomendations of a manufacturer and a rough price! what differences will i notice if i fit one compared to the filter fitted as standard? I have recently fitted a art alloy race can which sounds mega loud as i cant afford a full exhaust system yet. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks..[/b]

+1 for the Race RS... Definately the free-er flowing option compared to K&N and the other BMCs, and the Rene airkit. You can tell, because a bike with a K&N in will run lean without rejetting, but a bike with a Race RS in without rejetting will s*** the bed

Warning though, they usual Dynojet Stage 1/3 kit contains no jets that'll work properly with the Race RS, it goes up to 144 (or 146) then jumps to 180! Witha system you'd want 165-170, with end can, I'm not sure.

The BMC's awkward to find, is the only downer, but saying that you might just want to go with JHS's stage 2 kit and the Race RS at £150. Or Mike1234's Ebay carbs...

I can't speak for hpw well it works just with a can but with a full system it gives a lovely midrange band and you pull from earlier, further. It's nice to roll-on from 2000 revs

You'd most definately have to rejet. To be honest, if you didn't there'd be little point in fitting the filter

Yup you'll need to rejet. Sadly my 165 jets have gone. It'll fit your model.

Andy.

I think I'll use this as my sig instead...

If you fit a noisy can/pipe and a fre-flowing filter then you really need dyno set-up for the full benefit - BHP and spot-on carburetion.

Dunno about BMC, I've stuck with K&N, and with a full akro pipe the result is:

If you haven't got a noisy can yet, see if you can spin for a full system, you'll lose the midrange dip, it'll weigh less, and look tops!
