One thing I was wondering about... As well as the perforated inner tube, my can's also got a much finer wire mesh wrapped around the inner tube... I've never done this before but I can't remember ever seeing that in a "How to", is it normal?

The fine mesh is stainless steel, it doesn't fall apart like fibreglass so it slows the glass from blowing out. It doesn't have the same sound absorbtion though. Leave it there, just wrap your fibreglass around it

Thanks! I was just curious as this WRP can has some interesting design "features"... for example the entire system, pipework and all, is titanium, but the rear end cap has a massively thick stainless liner in it for no apparent reason (or had, it's nearly all gone now) so I thought maybe this was just another one...
(That'sone of the how-tos I was referring to, mine is different from that one as well, hence the qwuestion ![]()

you will need to pack it sooner on a v-twin though as they are harsher on the packing material than inline 4's, about every 7k if i remember correctly

a friend of mine packed his exhaust with wire wool before an mot.
he then got a call from a rather ****ed tester telling him a ball of glowing red hot ball of wire wool had just landed in his "lunch box" oh & he had also failed the mot. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
