sick sv
I broke down and took my SV to the shop. It was running on one cylinder. This sucks. Maybe somone out there knows how I feel. Everyone here is trying to tell me it will be alright and I picked a good time to get it fixed, because it's the beginning of the year. No one seems to realise that when I've been riding in 30 degree weather for two months, this isn't the beginning of the year. Not having a bike is helping me realise how stupid the people around me are. I thought maybe fellow motorcyclists would empathise, but, no.

What happened? Were you riding in the wet? Which pot did you lose?

I washed it, after I washed it, I was warming it up getting ready for a ride and it idled down to 1,000. I went to rev it up, and it just died. I live on a farm, so I have gasoline at hand all the time, I was wondering if it led to this trouble. I wheeled it over to the barrel and ever since then, it was running wierd. It would change, too. It would run in a manner where I could ease off the throttle and find a spot that had power, then after a while, it would run lean all over. In the lean spot, it ran very hot. At times, reaching 211 F.
I'm pretty sure it was the back cylinder. I heard a massive tick coming from that side. With cars, (something I'm familiar with working on) that would indicate an injector problem. |

i would have checked the HT leads and plugs for water first, give them a soaking with wd40, would say the fact that you washed it and it started to run on one pot is too much of a co-incedence, infact id say that im sure that this is 99.9% what the problem is, its well documented on the uk forums here cos we have constantly s*it weather

I was wondering if that was the deal. If it was, why would it be running hot, and why would it switch between having a powerful spot in the powerband to being weak all over?

becuase the cylinder will start to fire on and off, which is why it will start to feel powerful, then slow, let the bike go cold, start the bike and put your hand on the downpipes, if they start warming up its running on both cylinders, if one is cool then that one isnt firing

Thanks, man. Now, I just have to kidnapp it from Giesen's. I hope "Fred" didn't start tearing into it.

honestly, spray the front plug, lead and other electrical connections with wd40, id say it will be the front plug at fault

Okay, I'll kidnapp it tomorrow and take a deep look at it. I'll spray all the leads and plugs, and pray that that's it.
