Default Just been taken out by a Nissan Micra !

Damage to me : bruising & shock
Damage to bike : none

Why ?

Because the bike was parked round the corner - I wasn't even near it, let alone on it

Left work early today as I had to get home & collect the kids from School. It was a lovely sunny day as I came out of the office and I was carrying a rather full tank bag, along with my helmet. Got to the road round the corner, looked left - Nissan Micra turning into the road, looked right - nothing coming, looked left again - AAAARG
The Micra, driven by some old bat who looked about 90, had swung so wide round the corner that she was just about to mount the pavement, directly in line with yours truly.
I had just enough time to think F**K ! when she hit me. I think I went onto the bonnet, and rolled off - the tank bag I was carrying in my left hand took most of the force of the blow instead of my leg thank god, and the armour in my leathers took the rest. I ended up lying on the ground a bit dazed and slightly winded, still holding the tank bag.
I don't know where my helmet ended up - someone gave it back to me. I expect it now needs replacing

And the old bat - she didn't stop - I'm not convinced she even saw me

So if you see a fawn coloured Nissan Micra driven by an old bat - get out of the way

I am not a happy bunny

WHAT??? Jesus...

So glad you're okay Simon, some things really are unbelievable. More importantly thank feck the bike's okay.

Hopefully see you Friday. And as for the helmet, it's unlikely to have sustained much in the way of damage - there's a lot of "I've dropped my lid six inches it must need replacing" hysteria around which I'm quite sure comes from the manufacturers out to make yet another quick buck. Bike mag more or less disproved this with an interesting article a while back, I'll dig it out for you if you're interested.

I think it's simply more evidence that the environment in which we find ourselves as bikers is dangerous.

BH. A hit and run. V v serious, is failing to stop after an accident, particularly when you've knocked somebody over. Glad you're not hurt, Mr T.
