How long (roughly) should the original front tyre last? I have had a new rear on the bike for about 1500 miles and apparently the judder thought the front is due to a worn front (I'm think it is the disc but the dealer doesn't agree) that isn't that worn. I was under the impression that a front lasts two times as long as a rear.
I only put a Metzler on the back to match the front and I would rather not put a one on the front, as I don't want to have to put a Metzler on the back again. Can I either put a different front on or can you get remoulds cheaper that I could put on just to last the same time as the rear. |

Not to sure my self.. I know you can mix BT010's(front) and 020's(back). I would assume you could do the same with the Metzler's, Maybe but a Z6 on the back???
Though you might be better off asking the place where you get them fitted if you trust them not the lie to you to get the extra sale. |

I think you have to have a profile of a similar shape or it will handle funny. It's most advisable to have a stickier tyre on the front as well.

You can mix its just not generally advised due to different tyre profiles, tyre specialists should be able to recommend something to you...
atm I have a pirelli on the front and an 020 on the back due to a puncture and not being able to get a match, not had any problems |

Got 7,750 miles from my stock Dunlop front, about 5,500 from the rear
You can mix the makes, depending on your riding style (other may disagree however). Take it easy & you'll not notice any difference - did 2,000 miles through the winter with a Z6 on the back & the Dunlop on the front. I have heard that the tread pattern on the rear Z6 is designed to have water displaced by the front Z6, but didn't really notice anything amiss Conventional opinion is that you shouldn't have stickier rubber on the back than the front - you want the back to break away first as you'll have more chance of recovering it ![]() |

My front has been on for nearly 10,000 so it is about right then. Maybe my rear should have been changed sooner than it was...
![]() I was going to go for some Avons Azaro's after being very impressed when the were fitted to my sisters curvy SV. |

I've just had a BT020 fitted on the back, the dealer tells me its fine with the stock BT057 on the front which is still good.

I have a Mich pilot power rear with a dunlop D208 front just because the rear was shot and not the front. Mine handles fine. I can tell the front is wanting to push through turns though because the dunlop freakin suks.

I had a pair of Pilot powers and got a flat rear recently, so now have a Dunlop 208 on the rear. It hasnt made a noticable diffrence handling wise but the dunlop is nowhere near as good as the mich, so as soon as i can i want to get that back on.
