I noticed this last year: with the throttle fully opened, if I wanted to slow down a little and eased the throttle back gently, the bike accelerated
![]() Has anyone else noticed this on a restricted bike? My bike definately accelerates better in top gears with 90% throttle ![]() ![]() ![]() Anyone noticed this on a full power bike? |

Maybe at 100% throttle the bike is too rich and as you back off it leans out a bit. Otherwise you have got one of those reverse action throttles (officer)

this also happens on cars if the air flow mass meter is on the way out.
i dont even know if the sv has one, it probably has though. |

i get it on my full power bike, only thing i can think of is that when you back off the throttle that little bit the air/fuel ratio is getting near perfect/ideal for the load that its under and maybe the airflow into the carbs is smoother and it gives you that little teeny boost

My full power K4 bike does this too. Only slightly, but it's noticeable. I was actually looking to see if there was an area of the throttle past which rolling on further had no effect (thinking that is it was open fully, it should go no further). The effect is most noticeable when rolling very slowly off full throttle.

Havent really noticed.....but only got to max out the throttle today on the electronically restricted k5....164kmph......not a drop more regardless of throttle. 101mph. I for some reason thought the restricted version tops out at 113 and the full power near 130....anyone any thoughts?

when mine was restricted i hit 113. wouldnt budge past that tho. that was down a fairly steep hill with my chest on the tank. in the slipstreem of an R6.
My bike does the same thing with the throttle, but so did my last bike so i don't find it that odd. |

Same here. Head upto roundabout etc. back throttle off and bike picks up speed
![]() Mine tops out at 100-105 depending on road. But thats still at 90% throttle, crank it round and i lose speed a little. ![]() |
