Default Supercharged SV650

Hi All,

Wondering if anyone can help me out. Basically im in my final year of uni, and as a project im supercharging an SV650 engine. I have an 03 SV650 engine on order, but until the engine arrives a friend has loaned me one of his spare 99-02 series engines.

Im about to make an engine cradle to mount it to (so it can be hooked up to an engine dyno) and was wondering if there is any difference between the mounting points of the 99-02 to 03+ engines. I know they changed frames, but from pics the engines look pretty similar.

Any info would be great.

Cheers

Engine cases and mounts are the same.

Interesting project, let us know how you get on.

A bit more info. Basically a comp is run every year between uni's (known as Formula SAE in Australia and Formula Student in UK), where teams build small open wheeler racecars. Engines are limited to 610 cc and have to be run through a restrictor

Most teams run turbocharged fours but our uni has run with a WR450F. My project is looking at getting more torque and power, so what better way than with a v-twin and supercharger!.

The engine itself will be resleeved down to 610 cc, and im planning on strengthening it with some rods this year and possibly crank next year. The blower is a twin screw unit and will probably be run at around 10 psi max (with intercooler). Also looking at getting some variable intake cams.

The intake and injection will be all new, with staged high and low injectiors, all running of a Motec.

At the moment im just waiting for parts and doing some designing, but ill keep you posted on how it goes.

Thanks for the info so far, i didnt really want to build the thing and then realise the new engine doesnt fit!

Cheers

Awesome project!

What sort of power output are you expecting? TTS got 205hp out of a Kwak Z1000 just by bolting on a twin screw charger so you must be looking at minimum 100hp +

Best of luck with it!

If you're replacing the rods and crank it might make more sense to reduce the capacity by stroke than bore... Just a thought. Anyway, once you make it work build a kit and sell if for a fortune
