Default Trip abroad...

...sadly not for me... but for a friend of a friend.

He's going across (down?) Portugal for 2 weeks and would appreciate any suggestions for cheap insurers (apparently his current bike insurance company won't cover him) - plus any other useful hints / tips anyone might have.

Thanks!

For personal insurance try ncionline - I think they also do breakdown & recovery as well

Portugal is quite a long way for a return trip - make sure your friend has enough tread left to do the return , or plan on getting new rubber whilst out there

Why won't they cover him - is it due to his age or the age of the bike

I know its not too relevant but going back to having enough tread , even ask if he's considered the plymouth-santander ferry route. It's a hell of a long road to portugal

Ive been considering this as i have family down south (i am portuguese), i plan to go soon.

Are you talking about bike insurace or travel insurance?

I looked at NCI for extra travel insurance as most companies will not ensure you on bikes bigger than 125 (or something like that).

I was looking to take the trip down and change tyres in portugal.

When is he looking to travel down?

As far as I know, he's getting the ferry - though not sure where to...

And it's insurance for the bike that he's looking for.

Ta for all your thoughts / suggestions so far - any more greatly appreciated.
