Fitting a Wolf Exhaust (Please help)

I read through the Exhaust section on this site and decided on a Carbon Wolf Slip On for my K4 SV.

I ordered it last week and it arrived pretty quickly. Great I thought.

Anyway I opened up the box and there were no fitting instructions, so I rang Wolf and they told me that they don't have fitting instructions as "it's so easy to fit. Simply cut the pipe roughly 1.5 inches away from the end of the stock can".

I even e-mailed them to make sure and they confirmed 1.5 inches or there abouts from the end of the can for my SV. Brilliant I thought.

Anyway I got home tonight all excited and cut the pipe 1.5 inches from the end of the stock can. Then when I looked at the dimensions of the new exhaust this looks like the wrong place. I rang the guy from Wolf back and he told me "that the 1.5 inches was only a guide line".

It looks like the cut should be way further down the pipe.

Now I am stuck as I have cut my old exhaust off (in the wrong place it would seem) and ruined that, and I am not sure where to cut the pipe.

To add to that, getting the supplied link pipe to fit in to the end of the Wolf can is a real nightmare (used grease and everything), I think I have lined it up incorrectly and it's stuck now.

Anyway, has any one fitted one of these succesfully? If so please help me, I am desperate. I can't use my bike. I am not happy.

PS Instructions and a diagram would have been nice. I bought a Pyramid Fender extender and a Skidmarx Belly Pan and even they came with instructions.

Should you have cut it 1.5 inches upover from the weld? Thats the weld located just under the foot peg.

For my Remus can it was 40mm from this weld.

Wolf customer service is terrible. I had all sort of problems with them in the past and would never buy from them again. They just dont give a monkeys

I would imagine it should indeed be about 1.5 inches from the weld as mentioned previously.
You are not the only person to have experienced customer service 'issues' with Wolf but there have been many satisfied customers on this site alone.

I'm quite surprised that Wolfracing himself hasn't jumped on this post!

He seems more than willing to jump in and accept praise for his products, as well as trying to flog Wolf exhausts on the site...

Yeah I think it should have been a cut nearer the weld down near the footpeg, which is a good 10 or 12 inches from the end of the can. That's why I asked them twice if they really meant 1.5 inches from the can.

As for the Customer Service etc, I wouldn't know about that yet. I had only read good things about the product before I bought it. I have since found quite a few posts on various sites from people having difficulties fitting these cans.

Anyway, on the up side at least I cut the pipe too long instead fo too short. So I can cut again.

On the downside, my old exhast is now ruined.

I'll let you know how I get on with Wolf.

A simple diagram included with the can would have avoided all this. Or at least when I asked them a couple of times about the cut the right info wouldn't have gone a-miss either.

tbh I've heard nothing but good about them, had good service myself and one of the other essex guys has a wolf can...

Bit confused about you trying to fit a link pipe, thats just to put original can on not your new one....

Yeah I am confused too.

I spoke to the guy from Wolf and he is trying to help me. He has agreed to re weld the old exhaust where I have cut, so I have no complaints with them except the lack of instructions. Maye it is easy if you know what you are doing. I've never done this before though.

I got 4 components with the Can.

A small link pipe

A longer link pipe

2 x clips

The can itself.

I assumed that the longer link pipe goes in to the Wolf can and then that attaches to where I have cut the pipe on the bike.

Maybe you can correct me.

I have discussed this on the phone with knightster and hopefully he now has this sorted but if not I can email photos etc showing where the cut is made - I was a bit spaced out over the weekend so forgot to mention that these are on our site and available by email.

In future of course I will include copies of the pictures or instructions in every box we ship but we have always advised just hold the can and link pipe in place beside the stock one and mark it by eye - can't go wrong then...

my scorpion was a bugger to fit. everything was tight and a sod to line up but you'll know when its right.

my wolf carbon end can is fantastic really pleased,but i was told one and a half inches so i measured it and it was nowhere near,just held the new can against the old one and it was clear where to cut
Can't really see how thats so hard.

As for customer service so far so good, but ive not complained yet so we'll see
