Default Fuel Injection Light - New SK5

Hi folks,

I've got about 5 days left 'til the machine goes in for it's first service ("between 400 and 1000, but no later than 1000 miles" the man said). With a little mileage left (at 800), I decided to go out for a little blast in deteriorating weather. Just under the ton in some steady, but not that heavy rain, the bloody Fuel Injection Light came on steady. This was after only about 8 miles. With panic in mind, I pulled over as quickly as possible to find that the revs were high (probably 2 or 3 thou), but to be honest, I switched her off as quickly as possible and had a nosey.

I looked at the throttle linkage, since I'd had the tank up and bits off for Datatagging and nothing seemed to be sticking. I checked the oil level too and all was well. Coolant temp was only 80 or so. After a minute or so, I started the bike up and she idled perfectly. I decided to head in the GENERAL direction of home and see what happened. Everything was spot on for the rest of my ride, which was about another 30 odd miles.

Makes me wonder if some water had gotten into the leccy bits. I'll make sure that it gets noted before the service. Has anyone else experienced this on a pointy? Fender Extender looks like a shopping list item.

Thanks,
Garry

I would get the bike in for its first service way before the 1000 mile mark. The SV engine is made of aluminium and do you really want to thrash it with loads of small debris floating in the oil and clogging up the oil filter?

I did mention that the light came on and the throttle seemed to be stuck open right?

Service is on Friday, and I don't reckon I'll be out before that trip.

Friday was the first service slot available and that was booked when I picked the bike up on the 1st August.
