Default Recommendation on where to get 1st service done

Hello,

I've bought a brand new naked SV650. been commuting to work on that. its gonna be due for servicing in a few days.

its been great riding it and i love it.

my dealer (west london suzuki) told me they should be serviced at 500 miles. i keep reading this forum and it seems 600 miles. not that its a big issue but wanna know what it is.

anyway, i'm in harrow and wondering
1. where i should get it serviced? or dealers that i should avoid.
2. how much should i expect to pay (no free first service).
3. what they do in first service. i haven;t done any maintenance, etc on the bike but want to do the simple things myself later.
4. anything else that might help.

i hope its not too many questions. i somehow dont have most confidence in garages and want to be better informed.

thanks in advance for looking!

cheers,

Surely you'd wanna take it back to where you bought it, for the free first service?

It does take long just a quick oil and filter change really and a quick check over.

My 2 month old K5 has just had it's 4000 mile service last week and just took it back to where i bought it and an hour or so later it was done and i was £150 poorer.

Labour was free but i was charged for the oil and filter. colin Collins did mine (they have a branch in Harrow too) and my bruv gave the bike a look over and says they seemed to have greased up a few bits here and there as well as the oil and filter change. They did leave the idle too low but that was no probs adjusting myself

Hello,

That's correct, the service is free, but you pay for the parts unfortunately.
However, I've been taking my SV to George White in Slough, Superb after care, can't fault them.

I know you're a fair few miles from South Wales, so I can be safe in the knowledge you're not taking it to "Ken the Roberts Motorcycles" in Newport - STAY CLEAR!

But yep- it may be out of your way , but George White' seemed to be very good!

Mines a K4 with now 18k on her

A bit out of your way, but "first free service" from Cupar motorcycles is FREE!
No charge at all. Nada, zero.

West london should at minimum give you the labour part of the service FOC.

I have heard though that they are charging many people for the full monty. If they wont then call suzuki 01293 766000 as people like that just bring the rest of us decent dealers down with them!.

Should be max £30ish for just the parts, oil and filter.

Default called suzuki

Called suzuki on the number given.

it is down to the individual dealer as to what is charged at the first service.

it does seem that most people get first service free (atleast labour). unfortunately, i didn;t buy from one of such dealers. since no free service was agreed during sale, i will have to pay. .

its going to cost me approx £90 now (at west london, £150 at colin colins).

on other note, nothing is ever free. so if first service is included free, it is good but surely included in bike's price (sour grapes!).
