Default Any tips?

Any tips on doing:

1) Draining fuel and removing my tank.

2) Removing and refitting the fuel pump.

All for a K3/Pointy tank... just wondering where to start, and the basic information.

Ta.

Brilliant idea !

Alternatively you might like to remove the tank first, and turn that upside down, then when most of the fuel is out - it won't all go that way - turn the tank on it's side, remove the fuel pump assembly from the underside and let the rest drain out there.

I found that, even when the fuel pump is removed, you won't get every last drop out of the tank - there'll still be a little bit sloshing around.

My fuel pump was half removed very quickly!!
I wouldn't recommend using the same method though!!!

I tried that. Unfortunately I wasnt attempting to empty the tank, and wasn't attempting to write the bike off either.......

It depends entirely on why you're draining the tank!!

If it's going off to be painted and is going to be put in a paint oven, it would probably be a very bad idea to leave any fuel in the tank!

You will also find that unless the tank is put back together and closed, that the fuel will eveporate rather quickly!!

have you considered disconecting the fuel pipe from the carbs to the pump and pointing it towards a suitable container then turning your ignition on? If I am right the pump will try to prime the system but not get any back pressure so just pump all the fuel out.
