Insurance - incl leathers?
Hi,
I've just had a renewal quote come through from Carole Nash. Quote fine, but it says on it that helmet and leathers cover not included. Phoned them up to see how much it would be to get it added and they said that they no longer do leathers cover. My household insurance would only cover me if they got stolen from the huose. What do you guys do about leathers insurance? I invested in some very good quality leathers, so it's not the sort of money I could just say "oh well, never mind". thanks |

Mine are covered by an extension to the house contents policy - accidental damage to items away from the home. It didn't cost much, another £20 or so IIRC.

Who are you insured with Sythree?
I just spoke to Endsleigh (my insurers) again, and they specifically have an exclusion for this sort of thing! rgds |

Any item used for motoring will not specifically be excluded under your home insurance policy UNLESS it has another use eg leather jacket can be worn out and about so would be covered.
This is the majority of policy and not all mind, some won't even cover the jacket. You will be hard pressed to find a company that will cover all. I wrote the clause on our existing policies so know a little about it. Can I suggest you check Sythree? Clothing yes, helmet I very much doubt. Pingu |

Thanks for the insider knowledge Pingo.
I could live with having to fork out for a new helmet, but my leathers, I'd struggle to find the money again. Looks like my household insurance company is a bit flakey. Apparently they consider it "sports equipment", which isn't covered if damaged whilst in use. It's a bit difficult to change them at the minute as I'm making a significant claim which they're being pretty good about (my house is falling down!). rgds |

When I worked for Axa a while back they used to do kit insurance, I think it was stand alone but I can't remember.
