Default call me a big softy, but that was emotional!

5 Spitfires just flew in formation over my house this afternoon

i think its either to mark an anniversary of the battle of britain or the first flight of the Spit. i knew at least one was due to take off from Southampton airport today around 4.30, and i was so chuffed to see it on its way. then about 15 minutes after that 5 of them flew about 150-200 feet over my house! OMG the noise was just awesome

i'm not embarassed to say i had tears in my eyes when i saw them

from what i read there was a 95 year old former pilot in one of them too. i doff my cap to that man for sure.

oh what a great time to discover my camera had a flat battery

i took one pic with my camera phone, i'll upload it tomorrow if its worth it.

that is all. carry on....

Sounds awesome Keith, I remember when they had the war celebrations in Portsmouth and they had a spitfire, hurricane and a lancaster. That lancaster looked amazing flying overhead I tell thee

Yep, the RR Merlin... another one of those things that just 'sounds' right...

Spitfire, Lancaster, Mosquito, Hurricane, Mustang... a few of the aircraft that carried that engine...

not a photo from above said event, but from Fairford last year... something to shed a tear over
