Somone mentioned on here that you should keep the revs higher on an IL4 during normal (slower) riding as you can labour the engine if the revs are too low.
Ive been riding mine between 4K and 6K is this ok? Cheers |

Well you should know when it's labouring as it will chug. As long as it's smooth all will be fine.

On my GSXR600, I often rode at about 4k, how else are you going to stay inside the speed limits ? Admitidly, it's "good practice" to keep the revs up above 7k when not riding about town, as this allows you to wind on "instant" power, rather than having to wait for revs to build.. HTH.. . |

4 - 6k is fine for normal riding. As someone else said, it's the only way to be sure you're not doing stupid speeds!
Keep them up higher if you're overtaking a line of cars and keep bobbing in and out the line. Just be aware (if you've not found out already!!) that a few seconds of wide-open throttle in second gear on an R6 that's already doing 9k revs means you'll be going MUCH MUCH faster than the traffic, so allow for it when braking to pop back in the line again! I remember this being one of the biggest differences for me when I changed to an R6 from the SV... Are you enjoying it? |

I'd say 5.5 to 7.5 town riding (poodling/motorway boredom), winding it up to 9-10 when going through twisties to get that OOoomph out of the corners

I'm running in my 636 and 4000rpm is my maximum revs for the next 500 miles!
I have not experienced any chugging and it doesn't appear to have any less poke than my SV. So long as I keep it over 1000rpm its fine! If anything the SV was the problem at low revs as it could be very snatchy in comparison. |
