It was freezing cold this morning & everytime I had to stop at the lights the bike stalled. It did that all the way on my 20 mile journey.
Any Ideas why ? Idle is 1500 rpm. |

Either choke stuck or carb icing

Scarily, whilst changing down a gear at about 45 mph I pulled the clutch in, blipped the throttle to smooth out the change and the bloody thing stalled. Thinks I, "I know, i'll let the clutch out because that should bring the engine back to life via a 'jump start' sort of technique"
Well, being relatively new to bikes, the dawning realisation that bike engines have a greater inertia than car engines was brought home when the back wheel locked up when i let the clutch out and began trying to overtake the front. My guess is fueling is the issue both for the constant stalling at the lights and the little problem I had. Might try the Silkolene iceing preventative additive stuff (can't remember the right name for it) which should prevent the carb icing i certainly think I suffered. |
