Gear Changing - SV650.org

hey all

im having a bit of a prob with my k5, when im slowing down i usually change down the gears as you do, the prblem i get is that every so often i dont get a gear at all and i have to pull the clutch back in and try again, sometimes it gets stuck in nutral and i have to move te bike a little and it will go into first, ive only had the bike 9 months i brought it new and its got 4k on it, does any one else experience this or is it just me, any ideas anyone?????

Have you had the 4K service done?If not the oil needs changing,and this can improve gear shifting.Otherwise check your chain tension and lube,and your clutch adjustment.Also check sump oil level.

the service is due now but this has been happening for about 4 months, the dealer said that it could be salt of the roads, but i always clean the linkages then lube them every week

Check and lubricate the linkages, check chain tension, check oil level and also check that the clutch has been adjusted correctly.

If that fails then don't worry, I had a similar problem and it was sorted by doing an oil and filter change, even though I had only done 1600 miles on the "old" oil. That's why I use fully synthetic oil now, but that's another debate altogether.
