Just a note that any variable type light does not comply with regs and is likely to get you stopped by our friends in blue if they're feeling bored.

There are lots of LED lamps for replacing standard bulbs here

Very few (if any?) LED "bulbs" will be E-marked so technically not complying, but that's another issue........................

I have seen the brake lights that flash when the brake is first applied and then go solid. I thought them to be very effective.

the biggest problem with anything fancy like that is it could distract the person following you and not realise that you are braking, and also attract the police's attention.

The only problem with LED's is that the light tends to point outwards rather then glowing in all directions. So it doesn't reflect right and you end up with the tail light just looking wrong. I have some so don't bother, unless you manage to get the type that reflect the light back to the 'metal reflector'. Not tried those.

I agree that the spinner ones are distracting, but I think the ones that flash before staying on are quite a good idea.

I am always dubious about my afremarket LED tail light. Its not as visible in the day at all. When following one once I was thiking this really isnt very safe.

Looks bling tho, that the main thing

PS. They are not the spinning or flashing kind....they come on constant when applied.
