Ere's a couple of photos of the helmet and a poor one of the bike which I saw a couple of days ago.
The back of the helmet. As you can see, as well as the large scrape there is a large indentation at the rear. Suspect this may have occured when my back hit the kerb. The front of the helmet. It pays to keep your visor down. ![]() This is a poor photo of the bike taken with a camera phone. Damage included.
Looks that the bike got off quite lightly. Garage are just waiting for the go ahead to start repairs. With any luck the bike will be ready before I am ![]()

Bloody hell, look at that helmet... Never seen a footpeg break like that either. Quite mad. But does look like it should fix up nicely.
How's the pilot mending?

The back is getting stronger day-by-day and can stay upright for good part of the day.
![]() I have an appointment for a week on Friday at the hospital. I think that they are going to take the four temporary pins out of the wrist but I'll probably get another cast put back on. They are advising me that I wont get full movement back in the wrist and if there is a lot of pain then the only option after that will be to fix the wrist so it can't move at all. ![]() Hopefully it will be OK though and they are just giving me the worst case scenario.

Hi, glad you are on the road to recovery
![]() Try and find yourself a website/forum that specialises in your sort of injury - you can't half find a lot of useful information that the medical profession doesn't usually divulge. Also useful to see/talk to other people who have gone through something similar. I wish I'd found the knee guru website a long time ago - it's helped me understand what's going on, what's likely to happen in future, and more importantly an understanding of what my options are. Don't rely on the Doc to tell you ![]() |

Your back will feal odd for a long time. Glad your on the mend though.
My injury was last september and i still get my back in a twist every now and again. Staying in the same position does not help, nor stubbing you foot against a paving slab (causes shooting pain though my back). The biggest issue is everything i feal that i cant remember if it was like that before makes me worrey about my back. If i jump, fall, turn too quickly etc... Realy annoying, but it will always be in the back of my mind.

Backs are a pain.
I know you can't do it at the moment but when I done my back in (keg fell on it) and awaiting physio. My doc told me to try swimming. I thought he was having a laugh but decided to trust him as he had previous back injuries too. As long as you swim front crawl it really strengthens the back up. It took me off the emergency surgery list after 4 weeks. Also got told that swimming with a float is also good for the back. - Takes all the weight of the injury. The best bit though!!! is being told that spa baths/jacuzzi's etc are v v v good as they work the muscles without strain. Great excuse to sit in the local jacuzzi all day! ![]() I still can't stand for long periods of time - christmas queues are a killer and standing at concerts are a distant memory - but I promise it does get better with the time ![]() |

Well I was at the hospital today and they took my cast off and removed the four pins that were drilled into my wrist.
Now I wasn't aware before i went but the method used by the doctors to remove pins is ...... a wee twist to the left... a wee twist to the right and......... .........yank the ****er out. All this with no aneasthetic. ![]() ![]() I thought that they might replaster the wrist but they haven't so hopefully the wrist will heal up quickly now that I can try and move it about a bit more. The picture is replicated below with the pin removal point circled Wrist felt terrible when they took the cast off and even worse earlier this evening with the 'tubigrip' on so I have it naked to the elements now and it feels a lot better. Mind you the beers might be helping as well now ![]() ![]()
