Hi all,
After returnung from a run and letting my K1 idle on the drive for a minute or so, as usual and spot on time, the electric fan cut in - so far so good. However, when I swithed off the lights off, I noticed the speed of the fan increased significantly. Should this happen ? Apart from that everything is perfect - runs like a dream, starts 1st time every time and the battery is in A1 condition. Any comments would be great Cheers ![]() |

Well I would guess that this is due to the decreased load on the alternator - at tickover the lights are a significant load, turn them off and the voltage will rise slightly and you will hear the fan increase in RPM.

Less load on battery/charging system,so other components get more power to them. No probs! |

Thanks for that.
Yes I did consider your points and understand the logic. I suppose I was comparing my electrics with those of my car. I mean, when I turn my lights off on my car, the wipers or heater fan dont speed up, so I couldn't fatham out why my cooling fan should speed up on my K1 - if you see what I mean ? Anyway - I wont be losing any sleep over this one. ![]() |
