Well I finally got off my ****, and went and got busy doing the fork upgrade. Rides so much better now than the standard forks with Ohlins Springs.
Spose you will want to see some piccies... wait a little be patient now Ooh, what's this: ![]() Nice shiny forks on me bike...... Hold on......What's this....... ![]() Oh sh!t, got a bit carried away with the spanners.....I've upgraded the whole bloody bike! Whoops.... ![]() How stupid of me, must be caused by the jetlag or food caused by coming across to Japan for a bit....Best I post some pictures to remind myself of where I am: ![]() Ooh look at that scenery ![]() And some more.... ![]() ![]() It is a bit good out here........ Bikes got some new tyres coming for it, then it's getting some shiny bits, and a paintjob. It's got a fair few nice bits on it, Full Akrapovic system, K&N, Tokico radial master cyl, braided lines... Want to get some nice carbon bits for it, PCIIIR, screen and undertray. Bits and pieces like that. But, more than anything, I need to do some Japanese Trackdays...... IT HAS TO BE DONE...... Suzuka, Motegi, Tsukuba, Fuji speedway..... Where could I go.... Dan. |

haha! nice one on upgrading the front end.
And the midle bit. And the engine. And the back end. And thats not Japan, i reckognise those bends with the red grip markings and banking from around Southend. You just got pics that didnt have the pier in em. ![]() Always wanted to go Japan. Even tho i know its an island i just never imagine it having nice coastal roads for some reason. Why? i dunno. Maybe i'm a bit thick.

That I do Razor, I certainly am Mr. Gaijin out here. It's great fun though, there's no animosity towards foreigners, everyones really helpful and polite, and the people here all have a great deal of honour- something which I think England is loosing.
For example, when I bought the GSX-R, I began to tweak the suspension settings, only to find that when the rhs fork leg had been re-assembled at a service, it had been done to the incorrect tolerances, and the preload would only adjust to half waydown, before loosing the thread, and the rebound adjuster was sitting lower in the forkleg than on the other side. Now given as I had allready bartered the guy I bought it from down quite a bit in money (he had even been offered more by a dealer, but wanted to see it going to a good home), and he insisted I took an extra £50 because the battery might be a bit tired (it's like new-on the button everytime), then he gave me a bike cover, and quite an expensive lock..... All this in mind, I thought I'd swallow the bill for the forks, as when I took em apart I could see what needed to be done was easy, I just didnt have the tools to do it. I mentioned it to the guy in passing when he called me, and told him not to worry about it, it wasn't much, and he had allready done enough. He then said he would refuse to send the original exhaust by post to me until I let him know the bill so he could send the money. Bless I'm. Spidey, you have rumbled me...it is infact southend.. I can see what your saying with the coast roads thing, a lot of people just think Japan is all cities and skyscrapers. Far from it. The mountain roads are beautiful, excellently surfaced with the tight corners covered in shellgrip (the red stuff), well signed to help you judge the severity of the bend, and people just pull over to let you past, especially when you are on a flyer. Up in the mountains you have roads called "Skylines". Basically it's a toll road, and it seems bikers generally go up there on the weekends to make use of the lovely surface and scenery and bends and and and, well just hoon about as quick as you like. No problems with coppers in the mountains either. No problems with coppers anywhere really, that's why the plate is like that Amarko...... Can get away with the plate at any angle, so nobody can see it very well, which means a free toll pass, and no speeding tickets. The majority of bikes out here do it. Most of the cop Cars out here are Toyota Crowns (think 80's Carina and you wont be far wrong), which are slow as anything, so they will only pull you over if your doing between 70-90mph. We were in my mates car and went past a cop at 110, and he didn't even switch the lights on...... It's great really.... oh and if you go to the equivalent of Halfords or Hein Gericke, the roof's are lined with titanium exhaust systems, and the walls dripping with carbon bits, rearsets, ku****ani leathers, Yoshimura bits....You name it, they have it. Everyones modification crazy out here! Dan. |

I speak a little bit of Japanese. I'm finding the cost of living very reasonable. It's like anywhere really, as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. Seems comparable to living In Norwich where I am (Nishi-Funabashi, about 25mins from Tokyo), In Tokyo things can be expensive, but never any worse than London prices.
Spare's shops are good on retail prices compared to U.K. prices. Bear in mind a lot of tuning stuff is actually made here, so the price is lower due to that. Some Imported stuff is dear though, although again no more than the U.K. I'm in agreement with you Northy on the tail section. Well, kind of. I actually like the shape of the "hump", but can't stand the rear light and numberplate assembly. I'm going to get a nice undertray with integrated lights for it. |
