Default Lightswitch clutch?

Hello all,

first post so the bar is open.

I just bought this last week as a commuter scooter to go with the Dukes.
http://forums.sv650.org/viewtopic.php?t=38313

Although it is very easy to ride around town, the clutch seems very sensitive - it's either engaged or disengaged.

Is this a "feature" of the bike or is there something that I need to replace.

Thanks,
Chi

The clutch on mine is very 'all or nothing' when it's cold. Once it's warmed up, it's much more progressive.

Hmmm, not sure. Sould be a few things. Adjustement - At the lever and at the engine. A dodgy cable, or just the fact that you are used to Italian 'yeah that'll do' tolerances

I already have a replacement clutch cable ready to go on this weekend so we'll see.

Have to agree with you on the Italian "tolerances" but I would have thought the difference in clutch feel/smoothness comes down to hydraulics v cable.

SVs are built down to a price so it gets the cheapo stuff. Having said that, I had a Bandit 6 for 4 years and the clutch on that was great (loads of feel and very progressive).

Does anyone know whether the SV uses the same clutch cos if so then there's hope for me yet!
