Heyas guys!
I'm sorta new to this forum, and also kinda new to my SV650 (2004 model, black, unfaired), as I've only had it for about a month.. Thing is, up here in Norway where I live (!!!!) there has been some real crappy weather with lots and lots of rain these last few weeks, and of course, my bike got dirty. Now, case in point, my exhaust has lost that shine, it's got lots and lots of tiny black spots on it. I can scrape them off with my fingernails, but a standard car-shampoo + sponge doesn't clear it off. Should I get some asfalt-remover spray to use on it, or is there some other trick I can try? also, is it cool to polish the exhaust after I get the black spots off, or will that turn bad with heat and everything? |

Solvol Autosol should be available in Norway.
I never used it myself though :P |

I've used Autoglym Metal Polish which does seem to get the crap off - needs a lot of elbow grease though.

The way i clean mine is-using Solvol Autosol tear off a bit of cloth-about 25mm wide and 30-40cm long-put the cleaner on the cloth and wrap the cloth around the downpipe-and just sit next to bike and pull it round-A lot more relaxing and takes about 10mins -it will come up great-

hope this helps
i tend to use varying grades of wet and dry (not sure if you'll know it as this in norway) paper..you know..the stuff that bodyshops use for rubbing down car/bike bodywork, starting with 600 grade gradually working down to the more finer 1200 grade and then use autosol. unfortunatly to keep it looking nice doing this is an on-going process but a little effort goes a long way :P |

The other day i found some marks on my can that would not budge. I had some T cut to hand and put that on it and left it to dry. Used a damp chamois leather and they came off pretty easy but am sure autosol is the way to go
