Default Rear Huggers - what's the point of them?

Apart from looking cool....why would I want one?

I'm guessing it's for protection against loose chippings. I can't think of any performance/aerodynamic considerations.

Alledgedly, they do offer some sort of aerodynamic help, but thats only what Ive heard. Ive had more trouble with mine than it was worth, so I took it off. Took me bloody ages to get it painted too! Oh well....

Mine keeps the carp off the rear shock, and as a side effect I think it looks better (specially black bike + black hugger).

Got mine from NWS, a bit expensive but quality piece of kit.

Aerodynamics me ****.

The SV650 is about as aerodynamic as a wheelbarrow full of hedge clippings. With or without said hugger.

Real answer: It looks one louder. It also keeps bits cleaner. Which is nice. I would imagine though, that if it had no effect on cleanliness whatsoever, they would still be all over the shop.

Mostly to keep the crap off the underside of the bike.... you notice the difference after cleaning your bike without a hugger.. and then putting one on.... tad less to clean..... Im a lucky bugger.. my Kwak comes with one as standard
