Alright correct me if I'm wrong...but the sv650 and sv650s differ mostly because of the half fairing and the fact that the sv650s has clip-ons rather than handlebars?
I was wondering if it's possible to put clip-ons on the standard sv650 and how hard/expensive it would be. What parts do I need? Also if I bought an sv650 and wanted to convert it to the half-faired 's' model, I would pretty much just need a fairing stay, upper fairing, windscreen, headlights and some fasteners right? |

converting from naked to faired would mean all the control cables would be longer than needed, the instruments would fowl the support frame, you'd need the faired mirrors, the loom would need extending & adjusting.
given that the faired are easier to come by, why not just buy one of those? Cheers Mark.

I'm from the US...sadly many opted for the standard and the fully faired isn't offered from the dealerships (to my knowledge) so it's fairly rare to see. Also a used standard is about $500-1500 cheaper in most cases...
I'll probably get an 03+ 650s...didn't really think about everything involved... just thought it would be kinda cool to make the standard look more like the ducati monster and be a little more sporty... |

I'm about 8 hours from the canadian border...I'm not sure what the laws are for importing a bike, even though we have basically the same bike in the US (maybe exhaust or emissions systems might be slightly different). Also a canadian bike has no VIN#...so unlike you guys...it's not quite as easy to import bikes from other countries. That is a thought though. I've found a few bikes around here, just most people want $4000+ and I can get a brand new one for $6000. I may just go with a gs500 in the end, but their isn't much you can do to make that bike handle better or much faster than it comes stock... |

The S is definately offered through the US dealerships, check out SV Rider if you're having trouble finding one...
