Trying to get my head around this but couldn't focus on the problem.
Got 99 N SV with GSXR suspension front and back. The first time I went out for a ride the bike was scary. Both suspension units were still setup as on the heavier GSXR. Backed off the preload, compression and rebound and it felt (albeit in my mind) better. My question goes to those that have similar setups or know a lot more than me about suspension. 'Which way should I be going on the Preload, Compression and Rebound when using GSXR units on the SV?' On my GSXR I've hardly got any chicken strips left, the ones on the SV are massive - I think it's to do with the suspension (Or maybe I'm not confident with the bike yet?) Any thoughts? ![]() |

That'd depend on a lot of different things- mainly your weight, also depends which GSXR bits. Preload, you want to set to give you as good sag numbers as you can get. If the spring rate isn't spot on for you this is a bit of a compromise though. A google search for "static sag" should give you some good results, I can't remember the numbers off the top of my head.
The rest, I just do by feel and by faff... If you're struggling though, there's plenty of places that can give you a hand with setup. Mine's still a bit off, but I got tired of mucking about with it to be honest, it's stable and it works so I just left it as it is ![]()

I've been to a alot of different sites,
One problem I have with my front preload is that It I take off too much the top of the forks touch the handlebars! Other than that I've got a lot of reading material, just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction - but then again it's very personal... ![]() |

21Quest really knows his stuff suspension-wise... I'm a suspension faith healer really, I just set the sag then fanny about till it stops trying to kill me
