if the weathers ok count me in..iv lost faith in the sv now in anything but good weather ,the dreaded one cylinder thing .every time it rains i get the surging/misfiring and tbh im sick of it ,im not using the bike as much as i should because of it,pretty much time for a change im scunnered im gonna get a fenda extenda on it but even if that fixes it ill still b expecting ,once you lose the trust and all that (women as well )but theoretically(big word that ,hope i spelt it right)yeah

Jim- silicon goop. I know what you mean about losing trust, but it's as close to a 100% fix as anything is. i've ridden mine across rivers and through foot deep floods since I did it Think I've got a tube somewhere that'd do the trick. Assuming it's the usual one-potting and not some wiring thing, that is, but it probably is that.

I might be up for that... I'll be out with the HBOs bike club (!) next week doing the same route we did with the essex boys, so I might have to give it a miss though.

Maplins sell one that's suitable, it's called Servisol Silicon Grease from memory, comes in a white tube with red logo and letters, like a small toothpaste tube. I don't know the part number though, can't find it on the website But, I've got some spare tubes I picked up when I was last in teh edinburgh branch, if you can't find it...

Basically, you pull the plug boot out of the cylinder head, then clean the seal and smear it with goop. I put a smear around the edge of the plug hole as well, probably don't need to but it can't hurt. Then squelch it in. I usually pout a wee bit more over the top, just for good measure, again probably not needed but it can't hurt.

I think some people use thinner grease on the plug end, but I've never tried that, don't really know if it'd work.
