Default Stingo down.....poo!!

Rush hour, Plymouth city centre, daylight, moving up Royal Parade. Whilst in traffic, as I approached the main pedestrian crossing the lights were on green...a couple of chancers dashed across the road, I flicked my eyes up to check that the lights were green and eased off at the same time. Happy that they were green, my eyes noticed that a woman of about 60ish was now making her way across the road . I was already on the crossing and had no chance of missing or stopping so as I shouted a muffled "ooohhhh nnnnnnooooooo!" inside my helmet, my left side collided with her and down we both went.

There was a crowd of people on both sides of the road waiting to cross who witnessed what happened. Lucky me, I got up fairly quick to see if she was ok and she was conscious and speaking but obviously shocked an probably a bit dazed. Some peeps around came to help and got the bike moved to the pavement. Talk about high profile!! The main crossing in the main part of the centre!! Anyway, the bike has scrapes mostly - slightly bent right peg and rear brake lever but only v.slight. Everything else intact!! As I say, scrapes - mirrors, RHS sport fairing, can (stock type) and possibly cracked indicator.

I got away with grazed left shin and painful right foot - I suppose the bike landed on it - otherwise Pride a bit dented tho'.

Feel sorry for the woman tho'. She got taken off to hospital but the law said that it was just cuts & scrapes so hopefully she'll be okay - no doubt she'll be damned annoyed irrespective of fault (incidentally, the police got at least four witness statements all corroborating my version of events) and probably rightly so. Still, we're still here to tell the tale!! Whilst I am obviously concerned for the woman (it's a bit like running over someone's mum - not very nice), I'm quite miffed that the machine has now got raod rash and will never be the same again.

Damn crossings - this is the place where the pedestrians used to use an underpass. The planners filled it in last year to put a crossing on the road .Damn Damn Damn.

Don't be so concerned, there's an even chance she's a right old bat.

Damn right talk to a solicitor.

Probably good idea for the flowers. Stupid old bat though, could have seriously injured you.

**** that! Seriously... Do they make cards that say "Sorry you're a cretin"? You shouldn't be sending her flowers, she should be sending you several hundred pounds. If you do send her anything, make sure it's delivered by an accident specialist solicitor.

At least your both OK! Thats good news. The fact it happened is bad.

As for the bike it's always nasty for the first drop, like anything new its bad news when you get the first spot of damage. At the end of the day sratches only affect resale and if your not planning to sell then thats less of an issue. Sorry to hear bout this though.

Good luck on getting it sorted.
