Default Repair my corrupted files!

Took some more onboard video with my ATC1000 all in one cam. One session in particular was ace!! Sods law that was the one where the file is corrupted!!!

The file is still there ~170mb but comes up as corrupt if I try and run it. I presume the file as not ‘closed’ properly!?

Does anyone know of any software that I might be able to recover the file with. It’s a .AVI if that makes a difference?!?!

That's just google. There are loads of programs to do what you need. I haven't used any of them in about 5 years, though, so couldn't recommend any specific ones.

Ulead DVD factory will close AVI files for you. However, this might not be the corruption in the file, it could be elsewhere.

Nero might have a tool that could do it too.

Latest update on the fixing

I'm not sure I have a codec that can decode MJPG but I'm sure that can be solved when the time comes.

I'm sure it should be simple to fix as I can see the file's composition, with
Audio : 7.30 MB, 44 Kbps, 11025 Hz, 1 channels, 0x11 = IMA ADPCM
Video : 162 MB, 995 Kbps, 20.0 fps, 320*240 (4:3), MJPG = Motion JPEG

I'll give it another go tomorrow. I'm starting to think the problem could in part be lack of the necessary codec rather than a damaged header. AviCodec doesn't baulk at opening it although GSpot does report a corrupt AVI header. I know I've managed to open files with damaged headers before now or at least demux them and then create a new file from the two streams.

Oh dear, the basic quartz.dll in Windows can decompress mjpg. Likewise imaadp32.acm can decode AMA ADPCM audio. So it must be the header. Will have to wait until tomorrow now.

Mike
