Default Why do low speed spills break so much stuff??

Just had the slowest accident of my life, maybe 10-15MPh.

Bent the fairing bracket, scuffed fairing panel, scuffed seat panel snapped front brake lever(instant moto-X cool), broken mirror, scuffed bar end, bent clip on, broken front indicator, dented tank, snapped rear brake lever, scuffed exhaust and big fat dent in me pride!

Where are my crash bungs? Ermm on top of the fridge.

I spent most of Wednesday and Thursday changing my bike from streetfighter refugee to standard-ish urban commuter, so most of the bits that are fecked are less than a week old.

Really sorry to hear about (yet) another spill, lots have occured within the forum over that recent past. Sods law is when you decide to fit the crash bungs 'latar' that they will be needed 'sooner'. Higher speed dings often affect the same areas but do lots more damage, and have bad effects on things like frame, steering etc.

At least your OK.

Hope it gets sorted without too much grief. Good luck!

Just being nosey, but hw did it happen (feel free to ignore this bit).

I'm fine I think, back and ribs hurt a little bit but that's just stress and the right clip on.
I had all me gear on, leather jeans and armoured jacket.

I dropped my helmet down some stairs this morning and scratched it all over. If it wasn't for the fact that I've quit drinking I'd go out and get wasted!

OH dear, quite a few of us sliding down the road lately. I share your dented pride

You sound quite bullish. so I guess the pain and any bruising will be washed away with a few stiff ones.

Hope the bike gets better soon.

I was filtering down Deansgate in Manchester, at stupid speed TBH. Cars were standing still and I was trying to get past. I failed to notice that they'd stopped to let a car out of a side street, he was turning right when I guess I just sort of appeared. I braked, on cold tyres, kinda got flipped off. Lucky for me oncoming car braked in time. Bloke who I almost smacked into stopped and helped me pick the bike up. People came out of shops and asked if I was OK.
Once we got it upright, in the middle of the busiest street in Manchester. I couldn't get it started... Yeah you guessed it, in gear and the side stand was down.
Jumped on fired it up, right clip on almost touching tank and thought "Ok as long as I don't have to turn right, use mirrors, or the back brake I can still make this meeting on the other side of town..."

Ouch a lot of damage for a slow speed spill!! Glad you aren't injured thats is what matters (might not to you though).

What model and colour is it, perhaps I have an undamaged sidepanel I could spare you. Not sure if you can bend back the front fairing bracket but I know where there is one for sale (but its just under £50 )

My side panels were 2001 blue, scuff isn't too bad. I've got others, but they're worse so that'll have to stay.
The rear brake lever I don't have, they're the thing everybody breaks, I'll have to drill it and make a foot stub from a bolt and rubber washers for the mean time, unless my local breaker has a SRAD one.

The only thing that really irks me is the £200 odd pounds I paid for Helibars and the right one is bent now. I might be able to straighten it, or re-postion but I think I'll have to take the train to work tomorrow...
