Default stupid dog

i was just going to put my bike away, but decided to go for a quick ride first...so im doing about 35mph in a built up area & this little suicide bomber comes from nowhere(i think it was a jack russel)
anyway i manege to swerve & stop (just) then when i go to pull off he wants 2nd's trying to attack my front wheel.....so as i give the dog a freindly boot some guy starts waving his stick & shouting & starts to run at me(2 on to 1 ) so i just scream off

so, if i had come off after the dog attacked me whos at fault?

i guess there would be nothing i could do?

I once rode over a maltese poodle with a Suzuki GS1000S. This little b*st*rd ran out of his owners yard every day and every day I had to swerve to avoid it. One day I didn't swerve. Didn't see him again... I guess he lost his taste for chasing me.

I've been in almost similar situations - I had a jack russel run out at me, and a black labrador. However, both times I used my lightning skill and the supreme handling of The Speedfight to swerve out of the way and avoid further disaster (me being eaten by the dog becasue i stopped).

You where right mate for giving the dog a little kick, i bloody would have if it was eating my front tyre, and if you had come off it would be the dog owners fault for not keeping their pet on a leash or indoors safe. Thats what I would argue.

See how stupid dogs are?

Cats run the other way when you ride down the road!

You can sue the owner for the damages it's there responsibility to make sure the dog can't get out!!!!

I learnt whilst mountain biking that there is only one thing more dangerous than a man with a dog - a man with just a lead, as the little ****er is guaranteed to jump out of a bush at some stage

Worse still a man with a dog on an extendable lead which he hasn't got locked properly with an Airedale called Otis who will chase anything on two wheels...

Fortunately the man is me so at least I'm not at risk

As a Jack Russel owner myself, I know they have no road sense and mine stays on the lead whilst on the pavement. At home, the back garden is fenced off to prevent him having access to the road.

TBH I think you have more rights in law to recover damages resulting from a dog causing an accident than a scumbag kid on a pushbike.

I have hit both, but only managed to kill the dog. I really felt sorry and the owners were so apologetic. The kid, the parents didn't want to know about the damage their little scumbag had caused.
