Default If you have a 2006 R6 or know someone with one

Quote:
Yamaha has issued a recall for all 2006 YZF-R6R’s due to a problem caused by the air filter fitments.
According to the Yamaha recall document, “the air filter retaining screws may work loose and in rare cases, fall out, potentially getting caught in the throttle valve and preventing it from closing properly.”
MCN spoke to Nick Girling, Yamaha’s Customer Services Manager, who told us the problem has been resolved on remaining R6’s in the Yamaha factory and every owner and dealer who has models should have the problem sorted at their earliest convenience.
If you are a 2006 YZF-R6R owner you can call Yamaha’s dedicated line for the recall on 01932-358065.
Taken from MCN. Spread the word, it could be dangerous - a 120bhp pocket rocket with the throttle jammed open

Could be serious in conjunction with having no brakes, no clutch and no kill switch.

If you're cracking on and the throttle sticks open on, you might not have too long to think about that... And braking against full power is going to be a hoot.

Other option is pull the clutch in and gear to neutral

Not as subtle as Northy...

Yes, nothing like ploughing into a corner, shutting the throttle and 'Oh flowers, it's jammed. Right let me pull the clutch, hit the kill switch and grab the brakes for good measure. Isn't it lucky it is a nice wide motorway and I was only doing 20mph so I had plenty of time to do all this and still keep the bike settled and not plough into the hedge... Folks with sportsbikes are not exactly sensible all the time

"Honestly officer, it's not me, it's the bike"

At last this excuse is genuine!
