Default Do you prefer to go solo?

Following a thread by PH, I was wondering how many people prefer to go out in a group and would otherwise not ride their bike or prefer to just go solo and sit quietly at the end of the ride with a coffee and perhaps a chat with some other like-minded people in the cafe/parking lot before continuing?

I'm happy to do either really. Nice to stop in the group and chat about the day though. There's more to the day than the riding, the social thing is important to.

Also quite good to do a blat on your own, certainly when scrubbing tyres in or you want to get to know a road better. For instance if you've ridden a road in a group before and wanted to try the road at a different pace and take in the scenery, or not.

i only ever ride on my own - but then i only use the bike to get to work - so there's not much opportunity for riding in groups.

Don't really mind, I ride on my own more than I ride in a group.

I prefer a group but biking is a solitary pastime and i think all of us who ride bikes have a bit of us that copes/enjoys the solitary times too.

Well thats how it is for me. Those of you who never ride on your own are missing an imortant time to get "as one" with you bike imho.

When the weathers better some of us will pop over the bridge and say hello Hovis, you can put the kettle on for us and then do 1000 sheep road.

I'm looking forward to the Porlock run now.

The whole point of me riding the bike is to be on my own.

Most of my riding is solitary, due to the fact most of my riding is commuting. However, the few times I've come across a biker, more often than not, they've sat in my blind spot! So I prefer solo, or taking up shotgun.

Haven't done the big group ride yet, so I don't know how that'd be.

When going out of town i would prefer being with someone, just a saftey thing is the roads are new to you or not very busy. As for london riding i realy dont mind either way.
