Red (Burgundy?) curvy. Pulled up on the verge just off the Ide junction sliproad this morning, 04th Dec at about 0815.
Broken down? Stopped to pull on waterproofs? If it was you, I hope you were OK. By the time I thought to stop I was at 90+ and well past you! I was the noisy blue curvy... |

![]() ![]() Perhaps I should add that my attention was largely focused on the line of traffic I was overtaking. I only noticed this guy through the gaps between the white-vans that I was concerned about making a 'jump-out, no indicators' overtake manuver! |

I always feel bad* when I spot someone last minute as there's no chance to see if anyhitngs wrong, but often there isnt without doing something dangerous.

Absolutely. To stop for this chap I would have had to bail my overtake, rejoin the left carriageway behind the three or four cars I had just passed, pull over and then walk the 800 yards or so back to where he was. Not wise. Why am I explaining myself? Hovi5, you've racked my conscience.

No, don't let him off.
Reading the road ahead is a good habit to get into. Even the hard shoulder, as it could just as well have been a copper on the lookout for speeding SV riders. Being aware of your environment is essential but keep an eye on the bigger picture. |

Jeez, am I ever sorry that I posted this eyeball.
![]() Furry Ginger One, it would be inappropriate of me to use this thread to outline every circumstance that existed at the fateful moment that I spotted that SV. However, rest assured that I saw him and everything else at the earliest possible moment. If he had of been a copper maybe I would have been clocked? In any case, I'm satisfied with my own ability to maintain sufficient awareness of the road ahead. Hovi5, thanks for the clemency. ![]() Unknown red SV rider, look at the grief you've bestowed upon me! ![]() |

Phil, no hard feelings.
I am on the roads quite often driving anything from cars to coaches and lorries. One of the things that I see often is people braking sharply at the last minute because they have just come to a speed camera or are about to pass a copper sat on the side of the road etc. It's a pet hate of mine that there are a lot of people on the roads with very little regards for whats ahead of them in the distance and are too focused on their immediate surroundings to act safely when they suddenly see a potential hazard at the last minute. Anyway, it's dry and sunny outside so lets all smile and enjoy ourselves. |
