There is a place in Slough that does 7 x 5 number plates and will put anything you want on it.
As I was passing the other day I asked if he would do discount for bulk purchases. They are normally £12 but depending how many interested parties depends on the actual cost. I was thinking something along the lines of: Normal registration with SV650.org - User name along the bottom of the plate. What I would ask would be payment to cover plate and standard first class post, then I would post them out in a standard envelope (should be OK for a plastic plate) If people could indicate their interest then I will try and get some numbers and prices. At the most I should imagine a plate could be had for a tenner including postage. But I will definately be pushing for a good price. |

This has already been discussed by a few of us getting the stickers to cover dealer tags on existing plates (the username inclusion).
Say you have an argument with WVM, or BMW mum, and they see the plate. If they're at all computer savvy, it'll take 2 seconds to "find all posts by <user>" and not much longer to click on your location (assuming you have one set). Is that really the scenario you want? Living where I live, I didn't see it as an issue, but I do commute a LOT, and I do the odd road trip now & again to more populated areas. So I decided against putting my username on my bike, but there is a sticker advertising the org, and I tell most folks about it when appropriate. |

I got one made up at the MCN do at Skeggy a couple of months ago - and it was £20
![]() So £12 is a bargain, and any discount is a bonus. (I'll post pics once I get the under tray & tail tidy fitted over crimbo).

Jenny, 7x5 is not all that small to attract attention but small enough to look neater than standard.
Baph, How people conduct themselves on the road is not my concern. I am just enquiring if they want to advertise or not. Kwak, A log book is not required as the plates are not road legal. Pmapp, Just a bit of info. The way this guy does the plates is he prints the details on a clear film then sticks the film over a piece of yellow plastic sheet. It's not reflective like normal number plates but if the size is not legal why bother having the "yellow" legal ?? I currently have one of his plates on mine and will post a piccy later today. |

Takes road rage to a new level IMO. If folks want their username on their bike, given that they're aware of the possable implications, great, go for it ![]() ![]() As for the size, I get pulled over on a stock bike often enough, putting a small plate is just asking for me to line the pockets of Brunstrom. Personal preference there though, as the bike is my main means of commuting. |

My plate is 7.5*5.5 from Malplates.co.uk & it looks good.
For Christmas I've got the girl-that-I -fancy-but-doesn't-fancy-me a plate that's 7*5 (£12.49) - no need for documents as it's a "show plate" - yeah, right....But the plate does look smaller than my plate - the characters are noticeable smaller. Not sure how much of a pi$$ take this looks to the Strong arm of the law. Kinvig |
