Default How much does a exhaust change your insurance?

How much does a exhaust change your insurance?

Was thinking of getting a new exhaust on my SV after xmas but how much (if any) will it add to my insurance?

Currently paying £500 TPFT, 19 year old aswell.

Also will changing things like Screen and indicators etc, change it?

try e-bike

blue flame put £10 on but R&G crash bungs took £10 off

Indicators didn't make a difference

It's quite a user friendly site, you can play with the bike details to see what makes a difference

Some insurers will not allow any mods so check with your inurance first before buying. Bennetts will not allow any bikes that have any mods at all which is totally archaic.

It doesn't affect your insurance if you don't tell them.

I'm with A-Quote who said that as long as there was no performance gain then there would be no change to insurance. So.....tell them the baffle's in & when you have an off - it must have fallen out!

nope, not illegal!

I asked my insurance if they wanted to know about modifications and they said no unless it impacted on the performance.

Ring em up with a hyperthetical set of mods.

I asked my insurer (Suzuki Insurance with NIG) about the tail tidy n zorst and they said the tidy would not be covered if that got damaged but the rest of the bike would. (fine by me)

As for the zorst, if it's not a performance part (most are not on there own with the baffle in) and is road legal no charge, if it got damaged though it would be replaced by a standard system though, again fine by me.

So the Evotech tidy went on and the CCC stainsless Oval went on a bit later, just a quick call when fitted. All above board and no tantrums.

It does depend on the insurer and riders details though.

Now if I'd gone for a full non road system (M4 for example) and Power commander n silly air filter I guess the result would have been a lot different.

Made no difference to mine, on either bike.

IMHO its best to declare everything that way you avoid any potential problems should you have to make a claim.

Hmmm, let's estimate how many people with Bennets have undeclared mods then? I'd say, oooh, about 100%?

Glad I didn't mention my scottoiler and fender extender to them now (only mods I had at the time I was insured with them)!

In all seriousness, I think they know the score. It's probably just a way of letting them offer cheaper quotes, not to mention a great way of weaseling out of claims..
