Default Indicator Q

I'm not sure if this is in the right section, so mods please move if needed.

My friend's Honda NSR has just lost a rear indicator so I've replaced it with an aftermarkey one.

The standard indicator uses a 12Vx21W bulb and the replacement uses a 12Vx23W bulb so the indicator flashes too quicjly. How do I wire in a resistor to make it flash at the correct rate?

Thanks a lot.

Does it flash that far out? I'd had through such a small difference would be neglible.

To wire one in, you put it in parallel with the lower power bulbs and you need to use Ohm's law and definitions for power to calculate the value needed.

that diff in wattage shouldn't make any diff.

Are you sure of the numbers? 23W is a strange number. I don't think you can wire a resistor to fix this, you use that to increase the draw but a 23W lamp will usually draw more than a 21W one...

Just change it to a 21W

Well the packet says 12vV x 23W bulb, and I got the 12V x 21W from an Nsr parts site.

That's the only reason I could think of it flashing faster. Might be something else but I have no idea.

Does the NSR have a dual filament bulb? Could be that- if it is, then resistors would work. Hadn't thought of that...

Not sure, I'm not that technical when it comes to anything electrical.

The replacement indicators are GT Moto ones that you get from halfords. Not the LED, which are stupidly overpriced, but the standard bulb ones.

Looks like a bulb to me.
