i just had an accident with a skoda where he was turning accross a two lane and i was going up in the left hand lane. he was turning to get into a petrol station and was going accross infront of a stationary white van and didnt see me coming up the inside. as soon as i saw him i hit the breaks and braced. I hit him on his front left quarter just behind the light. went over the front of the bike and over onto his bonnet and slid off the other side.
as far as i could work out the damage to the bike is that the whole front fairing is smashed as are lights and the front forks are well and truly bent. even at full right lock it moves left. im fine, a bit of a sore back and some tight muscles in my legs. a good nights rest and im going to be right as rain. i took his name, tel no., address, number plate, email, make and model and insurance company name as well as the best photos i could on my phone. got 1 witness with name and tel. im insured with carol nash so anyones experiance anyone has with them is greatly apreciated any info anyone else can give me would be greatly aprecciated. thanks guys |

Firstly, glad to hear you're OK.
In my opinion and experience the insurance companies will go knock for knock. The other parties insurance will try and blame you for "undertaking" and going too fast. The Skoda driver will say the van driver indicated, either by flashing of lights or gesture, that it was safe for him to go. He eased across and you came roaring down the road virtually out of control. Or something along those lines. Hope I'm wrong. |

Get yourself down to A&E straight away. You have had a serious accident, and while you appear to be OK get a professional opinion.
Did anyone call the police? If not, tell them immediately. Write down in detail what happened. Not just a few lines, I mean several pages. Get your witness to write doewn what happened too, if you can. |

Unlucky fella. Glad to hear you're relatively OK though.
As said, go get yourself checked out, even if it's just for piece of mind for the rest of us ![]() The bike can be replaced. |

Petevtwin650 is right unfortunately. Was exactly like my pushbike accident which settled 60/40 in my favour after 2 years of wrangling, even down to WVM flashing him through. Apparently we should be proceding "with extreme caution" in that situation, anticipating that a driver could turn across our path and we could be obscured behind the van. Hope yours is settled better!

the above is right but only because we are on two wheels...unfortunately this country does hate bikes...anyone denying it is an idiot. However it was your right of way...you pay road tax...you were in a seperate lane...he is crossing it...it is HIS/HER responsibility to make sure it is safe to cross...you should win 100% but i dont know if you will...if you hold your nerve and do your research into the highway code and law after a fight you may well win.
either way, good luck, and welcome to the world of ongoing insurance battles. |

Firstly, as everyone here will say, Glad you're OK but do follow previous advice and at least see your GP or A&E and get checked. An almost identical thing happened to me in 2005.
Get the police involved if you already haven't, surprised that they didn't turn up on the scene. I got awarded 100% with no problems, the guy was exactly where he should not have been. It is as already stated the other guys responsibility to ensure that his path is completely clear and that he can make his maneuver safely. If you were riding within the limit in your own lane then you were riding within the law and the other driver because of his lack of attention was negligent. Even if he says he thought he was safe to proceed because another driver gestured or flashed him, he still has to make sure his path is clear and not rely on a third party. I was insured through Motor Cycle Direct at the time and them and their legal team were very good and I had a cheque for my bike within 2 months. Good luck |

Sorry to hear about your accident.
![]() Give White Dalton a call http://www.whitedalton.co.uk/index.php and get some advice. They are experts in this field. Some tw*t knocked me off with their door on the A2. The were found 100% liable, and I got a payout. They are good guys. Cheers, Mark |
