Default Hello *waves*

Hiya Everyone!

After much humming and haa-ing, i decided to join this forum after being persuaded too by matt (alpinestarhero). Im his girlfriend and resident passenger on his bike

I was thinking of trying for my own licence but decided not too as i think it would be a bit hard given my hearing problem (dont like the idea of trying to be taught with no hearing aids on!). So i reckon i'll stick to being a pillion and let matt do all the work hehe

Maria

P.S if anyone wants to ask about my hearing, please feel free to do so, i wont get offended or anything like that

Welcome, glad to have you on board, perhaps see you down Soho at some stage (bit banged up at present).

See we don't bite (awaiting invertation for that )

I must admit I learn to ride many years a go, they didn't have radios for it then and I didn't miss it one bit although I can see your point as just general riding without hearing could be a problem in London.

So go on then, what's up with your hearing ? born with it or something later ?

Cheers Mark

Yeah i was born deaf; probably due to me being 2 months early! Theres a name for the exact hearing loss i have but its really long lol. Im alright with it though because i dont know what im missing (so to speak) i think people who turn deaf later in life find it harder as they've been removed from a hearing world.

My turn for a question, what happened to your knee? looks painful..

Hi Maria

I'm keeping a running report going (see "story of a busted knee" in my sign), but basically a car cut across the road in front of me, just about broke everything in there to break, I'm about 5 months into it now and hopefully got my last Op in a couple of weeks.

So what does the hearing aid do for you then? I was saying to your guy earlier I'm from your neck of the woods, born in Tottenham, brought up in Edmonton/Enfield lock.

Cheers Mark.

Welcome

So are you totally deaf or just hard of hearing??? To be honest with wind noise in a lid may people wear ear plugs anyway so I can't see you are at any disadvantage?? ... if you are totally deaf (presume you are not if you wear aids) then thats a diff matter mind as it would potentially impair your awareness. So presuming you are only hard of hearing ... sign up for that test

hiya missy

i used to wear custom made ear plugs and they were great. cut out loads of background noise but i could hear people talking to me. it seemed to cut out all of the back ground noise. helmets cut out a lot of noise so if you are hard of hearing it would be harder with helmet on. maybe try even your cbt will give you a better idea about handling a bike and possibly make you a better pillion.

any way welcome to the clan, friendly bunch
