Default tyre cut - when to take action?

My back tyre has a couple of small cuts in it. They're both in the middle and are around 1/4". Ignore or take seriously? On a car I'd definitely ignore them. I have had a few slides when laying down the power so I'm thinking the back tyre is on its way out as I weigh over 16 stone (ahem...and a bit) so you'd think I'd struggle to spin it up, especially on straights. Having said that I have got the back shock wound up very stif to cope with previously mentioned weight and thus traction may be affected on bumpy roads.

If in doubt, I'd suggest getting it looked at by a few different places. The chances are that you'll be OK I guess, unlesss the tyre is coming apart that is.
