Angry glass in tyres

Lubed chain today , and checked tyres for nails etc .
Noticed 2 shards of glass approx 3mm deep , decided to remove the glass , all ok tyres not leaking as fairly new and have about 5mm tread depth left .

If left would the glass shards worked in & caused a puncture when tyre wore ?

Cheers Steve
