Default Brake Light...

...is not coming on. Doesn't matter whether front or back so I'm making the assumption the switches are OK, unless they've both gone in a short space of time. Anyone have any ideas or know of common faults to look for?

Thanks

Don't know what bike you have*, if curvy then the obvious place to look is bulbs.

*This would help when asking questions.

It's a pointy Sid. And go easy on him, he's from Central Scotland.

When I got mine new from the shop, they hadn't plugged in the lights under the rear seat...might be worth checking in case the plug thingy has come out...

Sorry, yes, kind of a vital bit of info. Pointy - thanks Tiger.

Thx very much. Tail lights are on no bother, just not glowing brighter for the brakes. I unplugged and reseated three connector blocks under the pillion seat. Two, two pin wee ones and a slightly bigger multi block. Bike has been serviced recently so anything under the tank/riders seat around the rear spark plug chamber could have been disturbed. Will check under here tomorrow for anything obvious. Can stick a mutimeter on the connector block pins if somebody can tell me which one carries current for the brake lights??

Thanks

Front brake lights?

Before you go prodding about with meters try the obvious stuff first like contact oxidisation.

Reseating doesn't always work if the contacts are coated. Presumably you've done a visual on the bulbs for broken elements.

Rough up the bulb contact - sandpaper, scrape lightly on the pavement etc. Take a knife or something hard and point and lightly scratch the surface of the bulb seat contacts on the bike.
