What's the best tail tidy?

Exactly what it says in the title, which is the best one?

Which is the easiest to fit?

Can a plank like me fit one? REALLY?

I had a Hamicad which fitted nicely, to fit any tail tidy on a pointy you're going to need to pull off a fair few things, just the way it's designed. But it's fairly straightforward (oh, except in my case, when a screw snapped in the hole - luckily I could reach it from the other side of the hole and replaced it at a later date - it was non-essential).

I don't mind the trying to pull things off, but if I broke stuff I'd be worried about them freak out and end up with a half-built bike?????

I fitted an evotech to my pointy not that long ago.

From memory:

Unbolt the stock tail tidy and undertray (pop rivets). Take out the toolkit (mines a K6) to allow the undertray to flex a little more.

Remove the plastics on the rear end of the bike. These happily stay together & just pop the front rivets off, unbolt it all, and it'll slide on & off nicely in one whole unit. You'll also have to remove the grab rail & pillion seat lock to get the plastics off.

Line up the new tailtidy, bolt it in place, pushing the undertray above it (you'll need to bend it a little to get it in, but it aint hard).

Put the plastics back on, beaing careful to line up the undertray on the correct side of the plastics. Bolt & pop rivet the plastics in place.

Re-fit the grab rail & dont forget to put the cable back in place for the seat lock! Unlocking your seat without it could be fun!

Bolt/pop rivet the undertray back in place, fit your numberplate to the tail tidy.

Put your tools away & crack open a beer

I would show you pictures of my WIP fitting the tail tidy, but it'd scare you. I have a lot more wires under the tail than most people have in their house!

Evotech gets my vote.

Everything fitted, came with a plate and neoprene seal to cover all the holes left by removing the old fender.

I'm not so sure that I would be able to do something like that without totally f*****g it up?

Anyone local want to help?

I wasn't really sure when I started at first, having not really worked on bikes much in the past. Once I got started it was simply a matter of "Yes, it will go back together again!"

Evotech was very easy to fit, I went to Alford to see them and get my tailtidy.

They explained the confusing(which actually wasn't that confusing at all)part of fitting that people ask about. Plus they gave me a discount when I mentioned the org.

Baph - I'm not so sure I've seen some of your posts and you sound pretty handy to me!

Electronically, yes, I'm fine.

Mechanically, nope, I'm a muppet. I was worried the first time I removed the oil filter for example.

I'll attack my dads car quite happily with the wrong end of a screwdriver, but I'm far more cautious about the bike.

Take the plunge, you'll do fine. I've been sort of planning to do step-by-step guides for the maintenance/upgrade work that I do, sort of from a newbie point of view.
