Isn't acetone nail polish remover?

No idea sorry.

How much do you need? I think I might have some bottles of something spare from a small box of fibre-glass repair kit.

Edit: I have half a 1fl.oz. bottle of glue remover(acetone) left. Plus a 1 fl.oz. plastic primer(methanol and acetone) if you want them for free.

Cellulose thinners can be used for cleaning tools and brushes when working with fibreglass resin. Just bought some from my local car parts shop last week, £8 for 5 litres. Or you could go to halfrauds and get about 500ml for the same amount.

being a computer geek i have a can of isopropyl alcohol sitting on the desk, no idea if it'd do what you want it to do (only took chemistry to A-Level) but it was cheap , seems to clear/dissolve most things and i got it from maplins

IPA most likely won't cut it, If you don't have too much then I'd go down the route of nail varnish remover, although make sure you get one that contains Acetone, a lot don't due to acrlic nails. Or ask a friendly local chemistry student/someone who works in a lab to get hold of some for you.
