As I don't have leathers yet (only textiles) I don't get my knee down.
Recently my confidence has increased a fair bit, and on several occasions when having a serious play i have leant to the extent where my pegs have made contact (and in fact my brake pedal also has a scuff on it which can only be from making contact). However, I have been reliable informed by a friend following that at the point of contact my rear can was less than 2" from hitting the tarmac, which has **** me up a bit as that will end in disaster. Has anyone got photos of SV's with decent lean so I can judge for myself ![]() ![]()

Funny that, my gear lever shows similar signs of wear. Exhaust on the opposite side for me. I've had the right peg down too, and my exhaust wobbles a fair bit.
Can't say I'm that concerned to be honest. The exhaust will cave in long before it upsets the bike too much IMO. |

I did a track day last month and *almost* got the knee down - yet the guy going behind me said that the (standard) exhaust/pegs were "nowhere near" the ground. leaning your body moves the mass lower in the bike, and as a result you can keep less of a lean angle, which means more tyre contact patch on the track/road which means faster speeds, and less chance of the bike sliding out from under you. The main reason for the large leaning was to rid the tyres of chicken strips intirely, which i managed

No pics of bog-stock bikes, no.
But it is safe to say that you will have a bit more lean before the 'zorst' scrapes, it will be close if you have the stock phat can on mind ![]() But as others said, that’s symptoms, not the problem … get off the bike some more!! ![]() Last edited by Blue_SV650S; 06-06-07 at 10:41 AM. |
