Substitution for a (borrowed)good one?
If you have one plug out you can check the coil by swapping front and rear.On a curvy I would also check continuity of the feed wires to the coils from the CDI as these can be affected by shorting in the loom at the known pinch points (Riders seat bolts and under the pillion seat)You will need a multitester.

Hi matey

Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere, but the possibilities of what killed your bike was discussed on the AE07 (missed you buddy).

When your bike hit the car, it sort of slid it's right side on the side of the car. From looking at the photos, it looks like the tail piece could have been hit right where the regulator / rectifier sits on the right side of the rear sub frame.

Have you checked this is OK? Running with a fecked Reg/Rec can fry your battery and electrics and could be the root of the problem?

Just a suggestion.

Yep, trying to find a known good spare is the best bet. Personally I'd blame wiring before components but it's not unheard of.

SV ignition electronics are commendably reliable, check all wiring very carefully first, start with the common parts - if it's not firing on both cylinders then it's not going to be the parts specific to either one.

I'd be looking at supply first, is there battery voltage at both coils and the ignition unit?

Then read this: http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=69733

Which further suggests the electronics themselves are OK - generally electronic things occupy one of two states:

1) Working.

2) Not working.

That's hardly definitive, but an intermittent fault is rarely electronic.
