Default Why I didnt buy an SV...

After my many Bandit problems (bloody stoopid bike), i decided a new bike was in order and i would just let the accountant sort the damn money situation out.

I was set on an SV. Pointy. Red. Fast. Yeah baby!

I found a fooking cracking model from Haselmere dealer and went and test rode it.

I couldnt handle the riding position! Call me a wuss, but the number of miles I do I feel I would be ringing the bells of notre dam by the end of the first day and my shoulders would have fallen off and landed on the floor.

I test rode it around and around (the dealer was looking worried by the time I got back) but I just couldnt handle it.

I'm slightly gutted, really wanted an SV but it just does not connect with my work. Maybe one day when I'm rich and famus I'l get one ofr fun, but for now, Ive settled on another bike.

Such is life, full of ups and downs.

Bah

Its was faired. Was lovely too. Shiny, low mileage. Pants seating position for long miles tho. I need a fairing cause I do lots of motorway miles.

I ended up buying a Fazer FZ6 S2 on an 07 plate. Those damn yammy dealers with their 0% finance.

I can understand what you mean Redster, I had a pointy red SVS (loved her) but around town and at slow speed it could be a pain. My riding is mainly out of town and I'd just put up with the little discomfort at low speed. On runs it was fantastic. For me it was well worth it. Having moved on to my Gixer its the same story.

I was leant a Fazer S2 when the gixer was in for it's service and I was very surprised at how comfortable it was. A cracking bike that would be a terrific all rounder although personally I prefer the SV engine. A great choice of steed. For me though, the open roads I get the gixer calling. For an all rounder the Fazer might just have the edge.

Have fun and enjoy, a good choice of bike.

Should have tried a naked
I'm not a sports bike fan for the reasons that you gave, but the naked Sv is a joy to ride, you have the v twin thump and comfort as well

I don't much like the SV riding position but I bought mine without actually test riding one (I'm clever me). Love the engine stylee - wish the position wasn't so "wristy" though. A nekkid would probably have been better but I got persuaded I ought to have a bit of fairing and think I do benefit from it. Whether the comfort would have been greater with bars though I don't know.

that makes 2 of us

I've noticed that ridding with a tank bag helps, just rest your belly on it

But the riding postion of a faired SV is so relaxed it's positively bolt upright. My trackbike is getting much lower clip-ons than stock

You should try being my size and riding a Daytona 955i, now that's leany forward and even in my advanced years (45) I don't have a problem with it.
