Default Immobiliser fault

Hey, my curvy has a meta system alarm immobiliser on it, just now stopped off for 10 minutes, came outside and it wouldn't mobilise.

Tried to bump it, but the system earths the ignition too so that didn't work, pushed it to the top of the big f#cking hill, tried to start it normally again, and it started

I think its a meta M357T or something like, does anyone know where these are connected into the loom as i presume its a shorted wire, unless anyone has any other ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Chris

Had a look today and can't find any obviously broken wires.

Also my full beams don't work but thats a fault at the front (the repeater light still works)

I sodding hate wiring!

I think I can help

Either

The cylinder head gasket is damaged because you've allowed it to become loose or there is excessive carbon build up on the piston crown and combustion chamber causing extremely high compression so the head gasket leaks. Retorquing the head is not sufficient to restore the seal, so you'll definitely need to replace the gasket.

Or

The carburettor intake manifold is loose. You need to check for cracks, breaks, tears or loose clamps. renew the rubber intake manifolds if they are split or perished.

Failing that

There is carbon build up in the combustion chamber. Use of a fuel additive to dissolve the adhesive bonding the carbon particles to the piston crown and chamber is the easiest way to remove the build up. Otherwise, the cylinder heads will have to be removed and decarbonised

If your'e still struggling, bring it over and I'll sort it for you.

I see youv'e been reading a haynes manual melody

It could be a fault with your imobiliser is it still under waranty? If it is take it back to where you got it fitted! Or remove it and throw it away!

Probably not, previous owner fitted it.

It's working absolutely fine now.

Have located the wires to the ignition kill so I know where to cut if it does it again! (this will let me bump start it)
Have also stripped the loom, attacked it with WD40 and compressed air and sprayed it all with PTFE spray, should keep it dry.

Chris

Edit: Remembered yesterday there was a lot of fairly deep water running down the roads near me, got rather wet, this water coming up could have caused it?

I had that immobiliser's predecessor, the M1. Finally binned it last year, I hate the things, it's not like hotwiring bikes and riding them away is common. Hardly difficult to remove, either, took me about half an hour taking great care so a thief would probably remove it in 5 minutes. Though, I used to be bad for leaving my key in the seat lock so I kept the immobiliser key on a seperate keyring.

Yep, I finally got slagged off so much that I stopped doing it- developed a "where's me keys" routine at last after 5 years of riding.
